Maine lobstermen have been awarded a total of $36,284,110.12 to date to help offset the financial harm they have experienced due to China’s retaliatory tariffs, according to a news release.
The European Union today agreed to eliminate tariffs on imports of U.S. live and frozen lobster products while the United States agreed to reduce tariffs on other items, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and EU Trade Commissioner Phil Hogan announced.
By providing relief to independent restaurants and more aid to commercial fishermen, Congress would also ensure consumer access to a sustainable form of protein.
